Call for President and Prime Minister

MAZLUMDER General Chairman Ahmet Faruk ÜNSAL Wrote below letter to President Abdullah Gül and Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for Abdullah DEMİRBAŞ, Mayor of the Kurdish capital of Diyarbakir Sur, arrested in December 2009, about his suffering from life threatening disease which proved by official health reports.

Dear President, Abdullah Gül

Health reports of Abdullah DEMİRBAŞ, Mayor of the Kurdish capital of Diyarbakir Sur, are in attached that arrested as result of an operation. As it is seen in the reports given by “Dicle Üniversitesi Tip Fakültesi Araştırma Hastanesi” he suffers from life threatening illness. Objections by lawyers unfortunately rejected.

Protection right to life and sanctity of this right is the chief principal. Lawyers’ release request because of health problems must be taken care; leaving someone to die in prison before he sentenced must be prevented as a moral responsibility.

For Human sensitivity and social peace, without ruling out that everyone has responsibility, this and these types of negatives could be corrected. We hope all the necessities and steps must be done as good opportunity to protect human rights and conscience.

As, MAZLUMDER, we would like to remind international laws and treaties, we call to be more sensitive about judicial process which violate the right to life of Abdullah DEMİRBAŞ.
